How Home Care Business Owners Can Leverage Sora 2 — and What Risks to Watch

By Welton Hong, founder and CEO of Senior Care Marketing Max

If you read the headline to this article and thought something like, “I’ve never even heard of Sora 1 … what in the world is Sora 2?” … don’t feel bad.

AI is moving fast – so fast that it can be hard to keep up with what’s what – which is why I wrote this article.

The same company that developed ChatGPT – OpenAI – is also the developer of Sora, which was introduced in 2024 as a text-to-video generation tool.

That first Sora model was notable for demonstrating that AI could start to produce coherent video content from prompts, but its quality, continuity and audio capabilities were not particularly impressive.

However, Sora 2, which was released Sept. 30, 2025, represents a significant leap in generative video technology, offering synchronized audio, realistic motion and narrative coherence that make fast, professional-looking video creation more accessible to virtually everyone.

Even if you’ve heard of and used Sora 1, there’s a good chance you haven’t yet tried the new version.

That’s because OpenAI initially rolled out Sora 2 using an invite-only model to manage capacity and gather early feedback. Users generally need an invite code to open the app or web version.

Opportunities and Threats

For home care owners — many of whom operate with lean marketing teams and tight budgets — Sora 2 presents both opportunities for high-impact engagement and potential pitfalls if the technology is misused or misunderstood.

First, let’s drill into some potential benefits:

  • Synchronized dialogue and ambient sound: Characters speak, there are sound effects and natural background noise is included without needing external audio editing.
  • Consistent visual continuity: Objects, characters and environments stay coherent across multiple shots.
  • Cameo / likeness integration: Users can embed their own likeness (face, voice, mannerisms) into generated videos with consent controls.
  • Fast ideation to output: Creation that once required film crews and editing teams can now be completed in minutes.

Whereas Sora 1 produced low-quality visuals, or lacked audio altogether, this latest version is a huge improvement. So, the bottom line is I’d encourage you to take steps to gain access to Sora 2 if you don’t have it already – and continue to see what’s possible with the earlier version while you wait.

To be clear, you can explore getting Sora 2 by doing the following:

  • Go to the official Sora website (com) and log in with your OpenAI account or use your existing ChatGPT login. Early access is often invite-only or on a waitlist basis, and you may need a code to enter the Sora 2 experience.
  • iOS (iPhone/iPad): Download the Sora app from the Apple App Store and sign in with your OpenAI (or ChatGPT) account. Again, access is invite-only or via an internal rollout, so you may need an invite code or join the waitlist.
  • Android: OpenAI has released the official Sora app on the Google Play Store in several markets (including the U.S., Canada, Japan, and more). This also ties into the Sora 2 experience.

A warning: Be sure to download only the official Sora app and use the official web portal, as imitation or spoof apps have appeared that are not legitimate and can pose security risks.

Whether you have access to the latest version or not, start thinking about how to use Sora to highlight your home care business and offerings. Some ideas include:

  • Create short testimonials from text prompts that reflect your service ethos (even when clients are camera-shy).
  • Generate explainer clips for caregivers or family members about in-home procedures or safety protocols.
  • Develop staff spotlight videos with consistent branding.

The bottom line is that Sora can allow even a small agency to elevate their digital footprint without hiring expensive videographers.

Personalized Storytelling at Scale

Using Sora’s Cameo feature, you can place leaders or care staff directly into videos, allowing you to share messages about your agency’s mission, deliver onboarding and training guidance to new staff and to share customized messages with families considering your services.

Sora can be particularly effective when used to recruit and/or retain staff. Use it to:

  • Produce job ads optimized for specific audiences and social placements.
  • Reuse a standard script to generate variations tailored to platforms (e.g., Instagram reel vs. YouTube short).
Important Risks and Guardrails for Business Owners

While the opportunities are substantial, AI-generated video content introduces several risks for home care professionals.

  1. Copyright and Intellectual Property Concerns

AI models like Sora 2 learn from huge datasets that include copyrighted materials. As a result, output may resemble copyrighted content in ways that expose your organization to legal risk if not carefully reviewed before sharing.

  1. Deepfakes and Identity Risks

The Cameo feature makes it possible to insert a real person’s likeness into content — which is powerful for personalization but raises deep-fake concerns.

This risk is especially a concern when you are working with clients who are older and may be prone to moments of confusion.

Given the above, I’d suggest only using Cameo likenesses with explicit, documented consent. You should also maintain an internal policy delineating who may appear in AI-generated content and under what circumstances.

  1. Misuse and Misinformation

Because Sora 2 can produce highly realistic scenes, there is a risk that generated content could be taken as genuine footage — leading to misinformation or reputational damage if used improperly.

If you are considering using Sora 2 for business purposes, I suggest crafting formal policies on:

  • Approved use cases and content categories.
  • Consent processes for any employee/client likeness.
  • Review and approval workflows before public posting.
  • Security standards for tool access and data protection.
  • Brand guidelines that distinguish AI-generated content from real footage.

These guardrails will protect your home care agency from legal, ethical and reputational risks while still unlocking the marketing and operational benefits that Sora 2 provides.

Conclusion

Sora 2 marks a significant advancement in AI video capability — equipped with integrated audio, continuity across scenes and personalization tools that make it relevant for small business content production.

For home care owners, strategic use can elevate client education, recruitment, training, and brand engagement — but it must be paired with clear policies, legal awareness and ethical safeguards to avoid misuse, deepfake concerns and copyright issues.

By planning responsibly and leveraging the technology purposefully, home care agencies can harness these tools to compete more effectively in an increasingly video-centric digital landscape.
